Colored Pencil Drawing Tutorial October Flower

October Flower

Hello!  Welcome to the October Flower Colored Pencil Tutorial series!

Beginners Beware…this one was a challenge for me!  But the result is something I am really proud of.  If you are an advanced colored pencil artist who wants to draw a beautiful flower or an intermediate artist ready to push yourself, then this drawing series is for you!

There are 3 different real-time sections and I explain in detail what I am doing.  In one, I am drawing one of the outer petals.  In another, I am drawing the center.  In the third, I am drawing one of the inner petals.  And, finally, there is a 1-hour overview for the entire piece with voiceover.

This was drawn on Legion, Rising Museum Mount Board, 2-ply.

I used Prismacolor, Faber Castell Polychromos, Luminance, Derwent Lightfast, Derwent Drawing, and Holbein Colored Pencils.  If you don’t own all of these brands, I have a handy Brand Translator that you can use to help you choose the right substitutes.

The pencil was blended with Utrecht NOOD, Odorless Paint Thinner.

I also used several Copic Markers in this piece.  The markers serve to dissolve the pencil pigment as well as add a hint of color to the lighter areas of this drawing.

This tutorial series includes a reference image, a line drawing/outline, a supplies list, a pencil list, and 4 video-based lessons.

You will need to be a member over on Patreon in order to access the modules but you can scroll down to watch a quick timelapse progress video for free.
