Hello!
So, at the end of every year, I love to take some time to reflect. What did I accomplish, where did I fall short, what worked, what didn’t, why? And, more importantly, I like to make a list of goals for the coming year. It really is a process that I look forward to each year. So, here is my year in review as it pertains to art and a list of goals I have for 2020.

What I accomplished in 2019:
Learned how to edit videos.
That sounds easier than it was! And, I still have so much to learn!
Started a Patreon site.
This was something that I planned for and worked toward for a long time. In the end, I started before I was ready and I have continued to learn so much over the past 6 months. It has been very rewarding and exciting and I can’t wait for all of the things I am planning for next year.
Started a website.
I did this with the help of a template from Gillian Sarah.
Started a Facebook Page.
I haven’t done much with this other than re-post images and video from Instagram and YouTube but I am glad that it is there for me in the future.
Wrote an article for Colored Pencil Magazine.
You can find this in the July Issue and it is called Creating Texture in Botanicals with Colored Pencils
Completed 39 new drawings.
I am attaching a sample of my favorites.

My goals for 2020:
Improve my overall video quality– lighting, editing, visuals, polish, take a class. My word of the year for 2020 is going to be “Quality”! I really want to focus on “quality over quantity” and making sure that I am improving the quality of everything I am producing.
Create a focus or theme for each lesson– to make sure nothing gets left out. I have a comprehensive list of topics I want to cover and I am continuing to add to this.
Create a blog post to accompany each video. Just like this one!
This will be attached to the video and available on my website.
Do some more work for Colored Pencil Magazine.
I have a project lined up there that will be in the April issue.
Do another Tulip Challenge in April.
Last year I drew 20 Tulips in April and posted my progress on Instagram.
Improve my own skills.
I recently ordered two books:
Botany for the Artist by Sarah Simblet and Botanical Drawing using Graphite and Coloured Pencil by Sue Vize. Looking forward to working my way through these.
I also want to continue to learn about new media- specifically, watercolor, pastel pencil/pan pastel and graphite. Learn how to incorporate these with colored pencil.
Put myself on camera a bit.

If I am able to accomplish all of these goals, I’m sure it will be another creatively productive year! I hope you all had an amazing 2019 and are looking forward to 2020!
